The second album, Letters to My Mom Vol. 2, includes 7 musical pieces that were received
with great admiration and critical applause. The album includes the titular “Letter to My
Mom Vol. 2” that builds on the narrative of “Letters to My Mom Vol. 1.” This album was
released during Shaun’s appearance as a guest speaker in the international TEDx show on
the 24 th of September 2016. The album also includes “Tribute to Sara” which is one of
Shaun’s special compositions in tribute to Sara Khatib, an amputee of great strength battling
cancer. The piece is considered an ingenious one as a result of its use of four different
musical movements and strokes that mirror the four lessons that Sara had learned in her life
and through her battle with cancer. Another beautiful piece in this album is “Cuba” that
comes to reflect Shaun’s own admiration of Latin music. The piece is written in alignment
with Latin music traditions and aims to capture an individualized perspective of Cuban
narrative. Last but not least, “Elephant Bar” is one of those rare musical pieces that
represents memory’s effect on an individual. Shaun was inspired by the actual Elephant Bar
in Cambodia that he visited with his father. The bar itself inspired him of those reminiscent
beats that carries the listener into the world and atmosphere of beautiful Cambodia.
